I am pleased to announce... for both my sake and yours...
The MCTCP service stack is officially 100% migrated to AWS!!
Not only are we way ahead of schedule, we also got a friendly new maintenance page and a few perks from upgrades that we couldn't previously do. Yes, we had some obnoxiously lengthy forum downtime due to a crappy monitoring service notification but we got through it -- See what happens when I promise you things?. Good news is, we had zero build server downtime, zero forum downtime during the actual switch over to AWS, and zero downtime for all the other little things no one really knows or cares about. heh.
A quick change I'd like to let you all know about: Now that we have a maintenance page, I don't feel so bad about doing full upgrades to discourse. These kinds of upgrades take about 10-15 minutes and will be performed a max of twice a month (every other week-ish). Doing this more often lessens those longer downtimes we have (you know, those 2-1/2 hour ones). I'm no longer going to always announce these in favor of waiting till no one is online. If I can't seem to get in some quiet time I'll still give a 30 minute countdown. Overall, this will mean less downtime and less "in-your-face" updates I'm sure you guys are tired of reading these by now anyway
Happy Forum Posting and Build DL'ing!
